District of Srikakulam is the backward District in the entire State of Andhra Pradesh in the great land of India. It is backward in the area of education, economy, industrial, literacy and almost in all aspects. Several tribal communities are residing on the hills of this District. The total population of this District is about 2,500,000, out of which 2,000,000people live in villages and 500,000 people live in towns. There are 2,000 villages. Total Area of the District is 5,900 square kilometers – Rural area 5,700 Sq. Kms and Town Area 200 Sq. Kms. Srikakulam Town is the District Headquarter. Population of the town is about 200,000.
India’s major religion “Hinduism” is followed by 80% of the population. Muslims and Christians are minorities. People are idol worshippers. They even worship cow, monkey, pig, stones, trees, rivers and etc,.
Language spoken is “TELUGU”. People of this town and District are not much educated and civilised compared to other Districts. The economic status of the majority people of this District is very poor, they struggle for survival, and many go to other fertile places in search of work for their survival.
