| SCHOOLS |
In 1972 Rev. Dr. Godi Samuel has founded a Primary School as there are no Christian Private Schools in this District to provide free education to the poor and needy children of this area.
Latter in view of the need, in 1979 High School (Secondary) was established. Both the Primary and High School are recognised by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and stand in first place in the District for discipline and standard of education. About 400 children are studying in both Primary and Secondary School (Douglas Memorial Elementary (Primary) School and Douglas Memorial High (Secondary) School. |

| We have been facing much difficulty in maintaining the Schools due to lack of sufficient funds. Local church is able to contribute a little amount for the maintenance of the School, which is not at all sufficient to the meet the needs of the schools for its maintenance. For the last 16 years we could not do any repairs to the building and paint them. The buildings are badly in need of repairs. There is a need for construction of School Building for Primary School with 5 classrooms, (including office room, Staff room, record room, playroom, computer room, kitchen, dining hall, store room, assembly hall and toilets) which are presently run in temporary sheds. These temporary sheds were erected with mud and bricks 30 years ago and now they are not in safe stage and hence Government is insisting us to construct permanent class rooms. Regarding the salaries to the staff of the Schools, the State Government is giving aid to some of the teachers and remaining staff is to be paid by the management. Presently the Church is also financially not in a sound position to continue its support to the School. As such unless someone comes to the rescue of these Schools, we may not be able to continue them. As on today we do not have any kind of financial assistance from any Organisation either in India or Abroad, for the maintenance of these schools. |
